COVID-19 Service Updates

Welcome Back! Most in person programs and services have returned to library locations:

Glanworth Branch is open for in person services. Hours remain the same.

Storytimes and other indoor programs are available. Some virtual and outdoor programs will continue. Check the Program Calendar to see programs as they are added and to register.

Children’s toys and activities are available in our children’s areas.

The London Room has returned to regular service. Appointments are not required.

The Labs at Central Library have returned to regular service. Find more information on The Labs page

Study rooms are available in some locations.

In person Book a Librarian appointments are available.

Room bookings and rentals have resumed. Please contact our Meetings and Events department for more information.

Self-checkout stations remain available at all locations and we will continue to grow our Digital Collection.
 
Our Print from Home service and our We Pick and Personal Picks services will also continue.

Computer use limit remains at 2 hours maximum per day as it was before the Pandemic.

COVID-19 capacity limits are no longer in effect and light food and drink are permitted.

Your Library card gives you access to ebooks, audiobooks, movies, magazines, newspapers, music albums, language learning, LinkedIn Learning courses and many more online resources.

What is available

Holds Pick Up

Place items on hold online or by calling us during Library hours: 519-661-4600.

Wait for an email or call letting you know that your items are available.

Computers, Printers, Photocopiers

You can use a computer at all open locations for up to 2 hours per day.

Printing costs 10 cents per page. There is no charge to print your Proof Of Vaccination/QR code.

Browsing, Borrowing and Staff Assistance

Browse for and borrow items, return items, check your Library card and get help finding information at all open locations. Self-checkout and inside holds pick up is available at all locations.

Printing Proof of Vaccination

We are here to help you print your proof of vaccination QR code for free! Laminating IS NOT available at any Library location.

Drop by any open Library location and let our staff know that you'd like to print your vaccination receipt/QR code. Here's how it works:

  • Using a Library computer, visit Ontario's COVID-19 vaccination page.
  • The receipt will download to a PDF, which our staff will help you print for free.
  • A green, photo health card id required to download your proof of vaccination. If you have a red and white health card, you will need to call the Provincial Vaccine Book Line at 1-833-943-3900.
  • All other printing and photocopying costs 10 cents per page.

We Pick

We can choose books or DVDs for you and your family! Fill out our We Pick Form and we’ll select items for you from the shelves at your neighbourhood branch.

Wait for an email or call letting you know that your items are available. We Pick requests can often be ready in as little as 24 hours/1 business day.

Personal Picks

Similar to We Pick, fill out our Personal Picks form for more detailed reading recommendations for you and your family. Recommendations are selected the whole Library collection, including recommendations of ebooks and titles from our Digital Library if you are interested.

Print from Home

Need something printed? Send us your document using our Print from Home form. Cost is 10 cents per page (20 cents if double-sided). Black and white only. Find more details on the Print From Home form.

Wait for an email or call letting you know that your printing is available. Print From Home requests can often be ready in as little as 24 hours/1 business day.

Programs

Find great programs for children, adults and youth in our program calendar. Programs are offered using Zoom and the Library’s Facebook and Instagram channels. Some outdoor programs may be offered, weather permitting. We are offering some pre-registered indoor programs for children starting this March Break.

London Room is now fully open to the public during Central Library hours. Researchers can drop-in or schedule an appointment for assistance. If you would like to book a microfilm reader or secure a meeting with a London Room staff person, email info@lpl.ca anytime or call 519-661-4600 during Central library hours.

Return items using indoor return chutes.

  • No late fines will be charged. The Library has permanently eliminated late fines.
  • Return Games and Leisure Kits to the desk, please do not return using chutes.
  • Return Musical Instruments to the front desk at Central Library.


We've increased the borrowing period for all items by a week and added an auto-renew feature!

All items borrowed will automatically renew up to 3 times unless there is a hold on the item. However, items that have holds are not able to be renewed so please check your account to confirm due dates for all items.

Borrowing Periods:

  • 4 weeks for regular items, with items automatically renewing for an extra 3 weeks for up 3 times unless there is a hold on the items.
  • 2 weeks for feature film DVDs with items automatically renewing for an extra week for up to 3 times unless there is a hold on the items.

Borrowing Limits:

You may borrow up to 60 items per library card (this includes DVDs, which no longer have a borrowing limit of 20).

You can borrow and place holds on up to 20 digital items in Overdrive and Libby. We encourage you to return your digital items as soon as you are done.

Fines

Late fines are no longer charged for items returned past their due date!

However, replacement costs for items that are damaged or not returned after due dates will still apply. Outstanding replacement costs for lost or damaged items will still apply. You can pay online through your account or call us at 519-661-4600.

You can still use all the online resources available in our Digital Library even if you have fines.
