COVID-19 Service Updates

 

January 17 UPDATE:

Starting Tuesday, January 18, 2022, most London Public Library locations will re-open for inside services including browsing and borrowing and computer, photocopier, printer and WiFi use.

Visits, including computer and WiFi use will be limited to 60 minutes per day and capacity limits will remain in place. At busy times, in smaller locations in particular, there may be a short wait to use the Library.

Carson, Glanworth and Lambeth branches will remain PICK UP only at this time.

IMPORTANT COVID Health and Safety Protocols:
  • Masks and distancing are required at all times when visiting the Library, including when using a computer. Masks must cover the nose, mouth and chin.
  • No food or drink are permitted.
  • Visits are limited to 60 minutes maximum per day, including computer use.
  • Staff assistance will be provided at a distance and self-checkout is available at all locations.

Your Library card gives you access to ebooks, audiobooks, movies, magazines, newspapers, music albums, language learning, LinkedIn Learning courses and many more online resources.

What is available

Holds Pick Up

Place items on hold online or by calling us during Library hours: 519-661-4600.

Wait for an email or call letting you know that your items are available.

Computers, Printers, Photocopiers, and WiFi

You can use a computer, printer or photocopier at all open locations for up to 60 minutes per day. Masks that cover the nose, mouth and chin are required to be worn at all times. Food and drink are not permitted. Distancing from other computer users, visitors and staff is required at all times. Staff assistance is limited and provided at a distance.

Printing costs 10 cents per page. There is no charge to print your Proof Of Vaccination/QR code.

Use of WiFi inside open locations is limited to 60 minutes per day. Masks and distancing are required at all times. No food or drink is permitted. WiFi is available outside all library locations.

Browsing, Borrowing and Staff Assistance

Browse for and borrow items, return items, check your Library card and get help finding information at all open locations. Masks and distancing are required. Staff assistance is provided at a distance. Self-checkout and inside holds pick up is available at all open locations.

Printing Proof of Vaccination

We are here to help you print your proof of vaccination QR code for free! Laminating IS NOT available at any Library location.

Drop by any open Library location and let our staff know that you'd like to print your vaccination receipt/QR code. Here's how it works:

  • Using a Library computer, visit Ontario's COVID-19 vaccination page.
  • The receipt will download to a PDF, which our staff will help you print for free.
  • A green, photo health card id required to download your proof of vaccination. If you have a red and white health card, you will need to call the Provincial Vaccine Book Line at 1-833-943-3900.
  • All other printing and photocopying costs 10 cents per page

We Pick

We can choose books or DVDs for you and your family! Fill out our We Pick Form and we’ll select items for you from the shelves at your neighbourhood branch.

Wait for an email or call letting you know that your items are available. We Pick requests can often be ready in as little as 24 hours/1 business day.

Personal Picks

Similar to We Pick, fill out our Personal Picks form for more detailed reading recommendations for you and your family. Recommendations are selected the whole Library collection, including recommendations of ebooks and titles from our Digital Library if you are interested.

Print from Home

Need something printed? Send us your document using our Print from Home form. Cost is 10 cents per page (20 cents if double-sided). Black and white only. Find more details on the Print From Home form.

Programs

Find great programs for children, adults and youth in our program calendar. Programs are offered using Zoom and the Library’s Facebook and Instagram channels. Some outdoor programs may be offered, weather permitting.

Citi Plaza and Dundas St. entrances are open during Library hours.

Washrooms available on first floor (Passageway) only. No washrooms available on 2nd and 3rd floors.

London Room use is by appointment only.

Here's what you can do during your visit:

  • ✅ Use a self-serve computer, printer and photocopier. Printing costs 10 cents per page. Staff assistance is provided at a distance.
  • ✅ Use inside WiFi, distanced from others.
  • ✅ Study, distanced from others. (Study and meeting rooms not available except for 3rd floor Study Rooms at Central Library.)
  • ✅ Browse the shelves, pick up holds inside, use self-checkout, get a library card, check your account and get other assistance from staff at a distance.
  • ✅ Borrow Games to Go, Ease into Leisure Kits and Musical Instruments.
  • ✅ Participate in outdoor, pre-registered programs for children and families.
  • ✅ Visit the London Room at Central Library during Library hours.
  • ✅ Return items inside library locations using interior return chutes. Please bring Games and Leisure Kits to return at the desk, not through the return chutes. Instruments can only be returned to the front desk at Central Library.

❗️ Here's what you need to know:

  • Masks and distancing are required at all times.
  • No food or drink inside Library locations.
  • In person programs, study rooms (except for 3rd floor study rooms at Central Library), children's toys are not available at this time.


Return items using indoor return chutes.

  • No late fines will be charged. The Library has permanently eliminated late fines.
  • Return Games and Leisure Kits to the desk, please do not return using chutes.
  • Return Musical Instruments to the front desk at Central Library.


We've increased the borrowing period for all items by a week and added an auto-renew feature!

All items borrowed will automatically renew up to 3 times unless there is a hold on the item. However, items that have holds are not able to be renewed so please check your account to confirm due dates for all items.

Borrowing Periods:

  • 4 weeks for regular items, with items automatically renewing for an extra 3 weeks for up 3 times unless there is a hold on the items.
  • 2 weeks for feature film DVDs with items automatically renewing for an extra week for up to 3 times unless there is a hold on the items.

Borrowing Limits:

You may borrow up to 60 items per library card (this includes DVDs, which no longer have a borrowing limit of 20).

You can borrow and place holds on up to 20 digital items in Overdrive and Libby. We encourage you to return your digital items as soon as you are done.

Fines

Late fines are no longer charged for items returned past their due date!

However, replacement costs for items that are damaged or not returned after due dates will still apply. Outstanding replacement costs for lost or damaged items will still apply. You can pay online through your account or call us at 519-661-4600.

You can still use all the online resources available in our Digital Library even if you have fines.
