Central Library is closed for heavy construction until June 25. Pop Up Central, our temporary location, will offer its services in Citi Plaza during this period. Find Pop Up Central hours and information here.  Regular hours and services return to Central Library on Monday, June 27.  The last day of service at Pop Up Central will be Saturday, June 25.

The Library Store is also closed during this construction closure as is the Passagway from Dundas Street to Citi Plaza.  The Passageway will be open in the evenings for previously scheduled events in Wolf Performance Hall and the Stevenson and Hunt Room.

The revitalization of the Central Library has begun. Central Library will close for several weeks of heavy construction work from June 13 through June 25.  Our temporary library location will “pop up” nearby in Citi Plaza.  Full schedule and details can be found here.

Pop Up Central will be located across from the Bulk Barrel in Citi Plaza, close to the Central Library location.  At Pop Up Central, you can pick your Central holds, borrow from a small selection of books, feature film DVDs and children’s picture book bags, return materials and pay fines and fees. A limited number of internet computer stations and a printer will also be available. Those parking underground at Citi Plaza will be eligible for 2 hours free parking validation with presentation of your Library Card at Pop Up Central.

The Library’s 15 Branch locations are open with regular hours throughout construction.

This first phase of construction will bring some great changes to the Central Library’s first floor, including the creation of a light-filled magazine and newspaper lounge and a new, “flex” space in the former coffee shop area.  This phase also includes the removal of the escalators, which will be replaced by stairs to the second and third floors. During this phase of construction, large sections of the escalators will be removed and the structural steel for the stairs will be brought into the building, requiring the closure.

Central Library Closure: what you need to know

• Passageway from Dundas Street to Citi Plaza will be closed when Central Library is closed
• Branch locations will be open regular hours.
• Pop Up Central temporary location will be open in Citi Plaza (see hours below)
• No Central items will be due during closures.
• Pick-up Central holds from Pop Up Central (see below). As well, all Central holds will be extended through the closure.
• Return chutes at Central Library will be open.
• Evening programs in Wolf Performance Hall and Stevenson & Hunt will take place as scheduled.
• Library Store will be closed when Central Library is closed.

Monday-Thursday 10AM–8PM
Friday & Saturday 10AM–5PM

At Pop Up Central you can:

• pick up your Central holds
• return materials
• borrow Quick Pick books, feature film DVDs and children's Grab and Go picture book bags
• use a public computer and printer (availability is limited)
• validate parking with a Library Card
• pay fines and fees (credit & debit only)
