A Fresh Look for our Catalogue

Yesterday, we launched the latest version of our online catalogue with a simplified look and the addition of some great features to improve searching. Thanks to the cleaner look, you'll be able to see at a glance the format of each item displayed, the number of copies we have, and if there is an available copy or a holds list.

Look on the left hand side of the screen to see all the ways you can explore your search results. Click on one or more of the facets to quickly narrow your search by format, date, library branch, age group, language and more.

Explore My Library Bag where you can collect titles and then either place them all on hold at once, create a list such as a Read Later list and add a few titles, or simply email the whole list of titles in your bag to yourself right away. Your bag will empty at the end of your session, but your lists will be saved in your account until you delete them.

You'll always find something to read with the addition of NoveList Results. You'll get recommendations for similar titles and authors as well as reviews right in your search results screen. If there is a NextReads Newsletter you might be interested in you'll be told about that too and be given a link to explore.

Research, whether for school or to read up on the latest innovations in household appliances, just got easier with the Articles search. Click on the word Article at the very top left of the screen and you can search dozens of different databases for current or archival information. The databases are sorted into subject folders to help you choose the best sources.  Even if you weren't thinking of articles when you began your search, we'll give you a taste of what's available by presenting three articles under Top results for articles found in the middle of your search results.

We've created some short eTutorials for basic and advanced searching which you can view on our website at www.londonpubliclibrary.ca/help/catalogue. We'll be adding more under How Do I? in the grey section of the website at the bottom of each page.
